Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional, and Home Premium – The Hidden and the Obvious Difference
What is the big deal in having one version of windows 7 over the others? Which version do you even need? On the other hand, which one is best for you?
In this article, my aim is to show you the hidden and the obvious difference among the three versions of the windows 7, which includes the followings: Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate.
First, I will like to start with the obvious before the hidden. The most obvious is the color of the packaging (The Home Premium is orange, the Professional is green, and the Ultimate is black) and the price. The Ultimate version is the most expensive among the three, followed by the professional then the Home Premium.
The Ultimate is the most versatile and powerful of Windows 7. It combines remarkable ease of use with the entertainment features of the Home Premium and the business capabilities of professional, including the ability to run XP productivity program in Windows XP Mode. For added security, you can encrypt your data with BitLocker. And for extra flexibility you can work in any of the 35 languages.
Letâs now talk about the functionalities of the Window 7 and which version can perform such functions.
The Windows 7 make the things you do every day easier with improved desktop navigation which helps you to open files you use regularly in just two clicks. Navigations like- Snap, which allows you to arrange two widows side-by-side by just dragging them opposite sides of your screen. The Aero Peek, which lets you peek behind open windows to get a quick look at your desktop. And finally the Windows Search, which allows you to open virtually any file on your PC, from documents, to e-mails, songs, right from the start menu. These functions are contained in all the three versions of the Windows 7.
Now the next function is⦠it makes your web experience faster, easier, and safer than ever with Internet Explorer 8. All the three versions also can handle that.
Watch many of your favorite TV shows free when and where you want with Internet TV. You can even pause, rewind, and record TV programs. This feature can be obtained in all three versions too.
Another features the three share together in common is the ability to create a home network and connect your PCs to a printer with HomeGroup.
Now that is where the three share common functionalities and the difference start to come in.
The ability to run many Windows XP productivity applications in Windows XP mode stops in Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate.
Connecting to company networks is made easy and more securely with Domain Join, and that ends on the Professional and the Ultimate.
Easy data recovery with automatic backup to your home or business network can only be found on professional and Ultimate also.
Now, what they donât share in common are the followings:
The ability to protect your data on your PC and Portable storage devices against loss or theft with BitLocker.
Work in the language of your choice or switch between any of the 35 languages.
These last two functions can only be found in Window 7 Ultimate.
Now letâs talk about the hidden difference⦠obviously there is no other obvious hidden difference as all the vital functionalities have been explored. The only thing that I will like to add is that, if you do not intend to encrypt your hard drive now or in the future and work with multiple languages that can only be found in Windows 7 Ultimate, then I will advise you to stick to Windows 7 Professional, which has all the media capability of Windows 7 Home Premium and the business functions of Windows 7 Ultimate.

xml:lang=”en” lang=”en” xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”>
File Security Manager 1.7.3 for Windows XP Home NTFS Access Control Released
(PRWEB) April 18, 2006
On April 17, 2006 UNGSoft Developers Group releases new version of File Security Manager – unique and useful program makes NTFS security available in Windows XP Home. With File Security Manager today every Windows XP Home user can get permissions editor like Win XP Pro provides. The program can work with user rights, ownership, effective permissions and has even more power features: Security Wizard, very fast file browser, secure deletion, and permissions assignment over network. New version contains user interface and core updates, new file management operations, help documentation improvements and now users can manage any file and folder attributes, view file system type in the main program window.
File Security Manager is not just folder locking software – it works with NTFS permissions and security descriptors. Thatâs why it is best file and folder protection software – it provides highest level of security!
If you donât know why this program so necessary for Windows XP Home users letâs discuss: What are differences between windows XP Home and Professional?
Main difference is that Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition has no usable tools for performing security tasks:
Access Control feature not included in Windows XP Home Edition, as you can see here at the Microsoft website in the Windows XP Comparison Guide:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/choosing2.mspx.
There are no Security tab in folder (of file) Properties Dialog window, if you use Windows XP Home Edition. And this tab can not be enabled in folder options like when using Windows XP Professional Edition.
Windows XP Home cacls command line tool and freeware programs isnât suitable software for Access control.
Windows XP Home also has other limitations but they are not so significant.
If Windows XP Home Edition is not allows managing file and folder permissions using Windows Explorer and any other standard Windows program, how it is possible to use File Security Manager? The answer is simple: Win XP Home allows other, third-party software to perform any security operations including managing file and folder permissions.
Why Itâs better to use File Security Manager in comparison with purchasing Windows XP Professional?
Intel-based PCs and especially laptops usually come with Windows XP Home. Win XP Pro license costs twice more than Windows XP Home Edition. By ordering File Security Manager you can save your money in comparison with purchasing Windows XP Professional.
UNGSoftâs File Security Manager is a program for everyone who uses Windows XP Home at office, home or laptop. It is suitable for IT professionals, network administrators.
