windows 7 startup repair has failed?
Question by monkeyo0s: windows 7 startup repair has failed?
Okay, so I recently bought a computer, just over a month ago now and last week i tried to boot it, after having used it many times in the last month, and on boot it went straight to startup repair, which then went on to say that the problem could not be resolved and to remove all external memory drives and try again. i did so but to no avail. so i did a factory reset on friday. After that it worked fine, till just now when i tried to boot it again and the same has happened.
heres a list of all the software i installed, both when i first got the computer and on friday:
vlc player
adobe flash
office 2010 (used up my 2nd use, only got 1 left now)
steam (which installed rome total war gold +alexander, medeival 2 toal war +kingdoms, shogun2 total war, napoleon total war and empire total war (i love the series))
heres my computer specs:
Acer Aspire M3920
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
CPU: Intel core i5 processor 2300
RAM: 6GB DDR3 memory
Optical drive: DVD Super multi drive
VIDEO: AMD RadeonHD 6570
with BIOS:P01-A3
i have no idea whats wrong, the only thing i can think of (which probably is just coincidence) is that the last thing i installed on both occasions, was empire total war, and then after i turned off the system and tried turning it off it wouldnt work. but i doubt its that as surely i wouldnt be the only person this wouldve happened to?
whats wrong with my computer and how can i fix it?
strange thing has just happened now , i just went to turn it on to safe mode+ netowrking and forgot to actually press F8, so it went through the normal process, then it just started up normally (albeit with a few changes to my personal settings ie background, profile picture, screen resolution) what do you reckon happened? this didnt happen earlier in the week otherwise i wouldnt have reset

Q&A: My Dell insprion N5010 windows 7 Starup repair takes more than an hour? HELP?!?!?
Question by Ashley: My Dell insprion N5010 windows 7 Starup repair takes more than an hour? HELP?!?!?
ok i haven’t had this laptop of r even a month yet and i know its not a virus im sure of it… when i turn it on it says start windows normally or windows start up repair so i click the start windows normally but restarts and comes up again then i do start up repair which takes me to a black screen for 2-3 minutes then to a blue screen that has a Grey box that says start up repair is checking ur system for updates:
if problems found, start up repair will fix them automatically. your computer might restart several times during this process.
No changes will be made to your personal files or information. This might take several minutes…. then under is this bar of something loading is says attempting repairs under that says repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete….
The thing is i can leave it for more than 5 hours and it does nothing… it just stays like that… and i need to use my lap top asap i don’t have the order number and i called dell so they couldn’t help… i have the dell drivers and utilities cd rom and the Microsoft works 9
One day i left it on for like 7-8 hours with the laptop being charged to see if the start up repair will go away and the laptop was really HOT but yeah then i turned it off for like 5 hours nd turned it back on same thing….
i tried doing F12 safe mode but still goes back to the same place as it restarts and idk wat to do… PLEASE HELP!

This may differ from pc to pc. Start the computer and click startup repair. If you can try to get CMD (Command Prompt) and type in chkdsk /r and restart. That should check the disc for Bad Sectors and alert you. If there is a problem you may need to replace the Hard Drive. Do not start a scan if a thunderstorm is expected and you are subject to power failures. I also strongly advise an uninterruptible power supply to guard against short-term power outages or fluctuations.
Hope This Helps
